The drama and beauty of the castle surroundings make a perfect backdrop for an exhilarating walk or cycle ride, whilst the proximity of the castle to Inverness airport and major roads makes it easily accessible. The small pretty town of Beauly, with its ruined thirteenth century priory in the centre has a small supermarket, wonderful delicatessen and butchers and is approximately fifteen minutes away by car.
There are craft and gift shops in the town and Campbell’s, a traditional shop with its fine selection of tweeds, tartans and traditional clothes is definitely worth a visit. Probably no visit to the Highlands would be complete without a wee dram and not far from Beauly is the Glen Ord distillery. Loch Ness and its attractions are not far away, and there is riding and golf nearby.
